EMMY & GRAMMY nominated film music composer Filip Mitrovic a.k.a. The Elkcloner sets out to remedy this obvious injustice: real people have real stories that are just as worthy of epic soundtracks as the fictional characters’ we see in movies. They are the unsung heroes, with no one around to tell their tales. So I asked my talented director friend Viktor Vokjan to come up with a signature movement that would encapsulate the curve of human existence. He presented footage of himself simply jumping in the air in slow motion = a metaphor for one's gradual rise/blossom, climax/peak and, finally, just as gradual a decline/fade. We went out to the streets of Bushwick, Brooklyn one day, asked 10 random strangers to do this “existential leap” for us and then I custom scored each one of them. Thus, SOUNDTRACKS FOR EARTHLINGS were born.
